SPITZ ~ Profile & History

Spitz (スピッツ Supittsu) is a Japanese rock band formed in 1987. They gained remarkable commercial success in the mid and late 1990s, and are known for their abstract and eccentric songs penned by primary singer-songwriter and guitarist Masamune Kusano.

In March 1991, they debuted with their self-titled album and a single "Hibari no Kokoro." Since the commercial success of their breakthrough single "Robinson" which was released in 1995, they have retained their popularity in Japan. To date, they have produced 14 number-one hits (nine albums and five singles) on the Japanese Oricon record charts. As of November 2007, total sales of the band's albums and singles have been estimated more than 20 million units.

9 Goats Black Out ~ Profile & History

9 Goats Black Out is an alternative rock band with a unique and gloomy sound, that formed in late 2007 in Tokyo, Japan. The band is made up of ryo (vocals), uta (guitar), hati (bass), and a support member- akaya (manipulate). Even though relatively new, they are already being recognized as one of the most famous nagoya kei (A subgenre of visual kei) bands, and during their hiatus, they performed in secret lives under the name Baphomet.

SID ~ Profile & History

Sid (シド) was founded in 2003 by vocalist Mao (ex-Shula) and bassist Aki (ex-Ram Rem). They were quickly joined by two support members, guitarist Shinji (ex-Uranus) and drummer Yuuya (ex-Shula). The four of them released the band's first offering, Yoshigai gaku 17 sai (mushyoku) (吉開学 17歳 (無職)), on mini-disc that August and soon after, they signed with Danger Crue Records.

Siam Shade ~ Profile & History

Siam Shade was a five-piece Japanese rock band, which broke onto the visual kei scene alongside a multitude of other artists in the early 1990s. They enjoyed a decade of relative popularity before disbanding in early 2002. On November 18, 2007, they reunited for a concert in honor of their recently deceased manager. On July 17, 2011, the band will reunite once again for a free concert dedicated to the victims of the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami  Outside Japan, Siam Shade is best known for "1/3 no Junjou na Kanjou", one of the many ending themes of the Rurouni Kenshin anime.

Matenrou Opera ~ History & Profile

Matenrou Opera (摩天楼オペラ lit. "Skyscraper Opera") is a Japanese visual kei rock band. The band was founded by vocalist Sono and drummer Yu in late 2006, but could become active only in early 2007 after the disbandment of Jeniva. The official announcement came on February 23rd 2007 via Yu's blog.

Kagrra ~ Profile & History

Kagrra (神樂 Kagura, Kagrra, on album art and promotional material) was a visual kei rock band from Japan. They were originally signed to the now defunct Key Party Records  under the name "CROW". The group changed its name when it signed to PS Company. The band's major debut was in 2004 with the single "Urei". 

Spin Aqua ~Profile & History

Spin Aqua were a short-lived indies musical project between the model and vocalist Anna Tsuchiya and the former guitarist of Oblivion Dust, Kaz Iwaike (now with VAMPS). The duo performed music together for a year and seven months, releasing music for less than a year under the Sony subsidiary "Ki/oon Records".

Dir En Grey~ Profile & History

Dir En Grey (ディル・アン・グレイ, Diru an gurei, stylised as Dir en grey and as DIR EN GREY from 2006 onward) is a Japanese metal band formed in 1997 and currently signed to Firewall Div., a sub-division of Free-Will. As of 2008, they have recorded seven full-length records and while the group's lineup has remained consistent since its inception, numerous stylistic changes have made the genre of their music difficult to determine (though it is generally considered to be a form of rock music. Originally a visual kei band, the band has opted for less dramatic attire in recent years.

DELUHI ~Profile & History

DELUHI is a Japanese visual kei band, formed when Leda recruited Juri as a vocalist. Leda was previously in the band Galneryus, going by the name Yu-To. Formed January 2008 by Juri (voc), Leda (guitar), Aggy (bass) and Sujk (drums), the band immediately started recording materials composed by Leda, the mainsongwriter.

Alice Nine ~ Profile & History

Alice Nine (アリス九號., or alicenine. is a visual kei band, formed in 2004 and originally signed to PS Company, a sub-division of Free-Will. They were formerly signed to King Records until 2010. As of 2010, the band is signed to both PS Company and Tokuma Japan Communications in Japan, as well as to German label CLJ Records in Europe and has released three full-length records, along with several EPs, singles and DVDs

Glay ~ Profile & History

Glay (グレイ, Gurei?) (stylized as GLAY) is a rock/pop band from Hakodate, Hokkaidō, Japan formed by guitarist Takuro and vocalist Teru during high school in 1988. Glay primarily composes songs in the rock and pop genres, but they have also composed songs using elements of different styles such as reggae and gospel. As of 2008, they had sold an estimated amount of 28 million records of forty-three singles and 23 million copies of fourteen albums. As of August 2010, Glay has sold about 37.5 million in Japan, placed as the 7th best selling artist of all time in that country, according to a ranking presented on TV show "Music Station", with data from the Oricon charts.

Versailles (known as Versailles -Philharmonic Quintet- in the United States) is a Japanese metal band formed in 2007. It is composed of several notable figures in the visual kei scene. Versailles' key characteristics are their rococo-esque costumes, dueling guitar sounds and heavy but melodic arrangements.

L'Arc-en-Ciel (ラルク アン シエル, Raruku an Shieru, "The Rainbow" in French), usually stylized as "L'Arc~en~Ciel", is a Japanese  rock band that formed in 1991. The group has sold over 13 million albums, 16 million singles, and millions of other units, including videos. They were ranked at number 58 on a list of Top 100 Japanese pop musicians, provided by HMV Japan in 2003, and are among the most influential artists in the Japanese music scene.

Luna Sea ~Profile & History~

Luna Sea is a Japanese rock band from Kanagawa, formed in 1989. The band was initially founded by, band leader and bassist Jun "J" Onose and rhythm guitarist Kiyonobu "Inoran" Inoue, when they were in high school. Originally the band was called Lunacy. When the senior members graduated from school in 1989, Lunacy recruited lead guitarist and violinist Yasuhiro "Sugizo" Sugihara, drummer Shinya Yamada and vocalist Ryuichi Kawamura, a lineup that has remained the same. Upon their first album release, the band changed their name to Luna Sea.

X Japan ~ Profile & History

X Japan (エックス ジャパン, Ekkusu Japan)  is a Japanese heavy metal band founded in 1982 by Toshimitsu "Toshi" Deyama and Yoshiki Hayashi.  Originally named X (エックス), the group achieved its breakthrough success in 1989 with the release of their second album Blue Blood.
